Having finished my surf coaching in southern Morocco I’m now back in the world of travel again – and my first stop up the coast en route to my first flight of the year was the fishing town of Essaouira. Made famous by the likes of Jimmy Hendrix (who reportedly tried to buy the entire place!) it’s a quaint port town whose old city is a labyrinth of alleys, shops, guesthouses and wonders.
The fish market is full of all manner of ocean dwelling animals which you can sample at the many fish restaurants behind. This shot for me sums up the place though – seagulls, boats and a rag tag assortment of stalls with everything from fish to octopus for sale.
…and if you’re not a fan of seafood you can always grab a coffee or some epic ice cream instead!
