Top Ten Tuesday – Things to Do in Sydney

It’s been a while since I’ve been in the iconic Australian city of Sidders, but I had a pretty dam good time there and it kept me well entertained over the Xmas and NY period. So this week I’m reminiscing and bringing you my Top Ten Things to Do in Sydney.

1. Check out the Harbour Bridge

Whether it’s climbing it, walking up to it or ascending one of the towers, this bridge is a great spot for views and photos of Sidders.

2. Wander around the Opera House

No visit to Sydney is complete without checking out the iconic Opera House – make sure you go at night too for some extra awesome pictures

3. Party in Kings Cross

Kings Cross is the epi centre of Sydneys crazy nightlife, with heaps of clubs, pubs and backpacker carnage just a quick tube ride from the centre of town.

4. Take the ferry to Manly beach

Manly is a gorgeous beach – to sit on or to surf. Plus there are loads of great surf shops and cafes too. It’s a 40 minute ferry ride from the Harbour, which in itself is worth it for a new perspective on the city.

5. Get up and close with wild Australia at the Wildlife Park and Aquarium

My favourite 2 days out in Sydney. Both attractions are well worth the money and a solid day out. You can pick up a double pass and save some serious dollar and que jump too!

6. Enjoy the street performers around the harbour and city

Sydney harbour and city is jammed full of buskers and street performers – take the time to check them out, just remember it is their profession and chuck them some cash!

7. Party at Sidebar

My personal night time favourite. Hit there for a cheap $5 feed and then party the night away with heaps of other backpackers.

8. Stroll through the Botanical Garden

For a more relaxing form of entertainment have a look at the Botanical Gardens. Chock a block full of native Aussie foliage and animals is a nice way to soak up the sun without being too energetic.

9. Stay at Wakeup Hostel

Easily one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. It’s clean, modern and attracts a great crowd. It’s slap bang in the middle of the action too – opposite the train station and a short walk to the Harbour. See my review HERE.

10. Visit over Xmas and NY

Sydney over Xmas and NY is incredible. Grab a BBQ on Bondi beach on Xmas day, shop in the January sales and watch the spectacular event that is the Harbour fireworks – its a once in a lifetime extravaganza, well worth the hiked up accommodation prices!
