Top Ten Tuesday – Things to Do in Byron Bay

It’s that time of the week again!

And since I’m living and exploring Byron rather intensively I thought it only right to bring you a list of stuff to do in this lovely town. So this week its my Top 10 Things to Do in Byron.

1. Surf

Byron is a great palce to surf – whether you’re a complete novice or pro surfer. Check out our Byron Beach Guide for more info about The Wreck, The Pass and Tallows

2. Dive

Most of the water around Byron are protected Marine Reserve. This means sealife thrives and is in abundance. Take a day trip to Julian Rocks and check out the mantas, sharks and turtles – or better still do your PADI course here.

3. Sunbathe

Byron offers a whole heap of beaches – from secluded bays to nudism…it has it all. Hit up our Beach Guide for more info and top up that tan!

4. Dance on tables

There’s few backpackers traditions more Byronian than hitting Cheekys Monkeys, sculling some bevvies and dancing on the tables – just make sure you don’t fall off!

5. Drink a Jam Jar

Second only to table dancing is club Cocomangas famous Jam Jars. This sweet sticky cocktail is sure to start the night well – or speak to your hostel bus driver for free entry and a free drink!

6. Skydive

The second best way to appreciate beach life in Byron – under surfing – is to fall from 14,000 feet, hurtling towards it. Adrenaline = check. Fun = check. Views = check.

7.Watch the Sunset

Cape Byron is Australias most easterly point and situated upon it is the Byron Lighthouse. Gorgeous views up and down the coast from this vantage point produce postcard perfect pictures (check that for alliteration! ) and good times. Take a cold bevvie and soak up the orange glow – or if sunset isn’t your thing be the first to see in a new day in Australia instead!

8. Sea Kayak

If you like nature and like the sea then sea kayaking is the perfect choice. Set out from Clarkes beach, paddle around the headland whilst watching surfers at ‘The Pass” enjoy passing pods of dolphins and friendly sea turtles before grabbing some lunch in a secluded cove. Bliss.

9. Go Fishing

Why not grab a rod and go fishing? Little Watego is the perfect spot with all sorts to be caught. If it’s bag size why not cook it up on the beach – you’re own little taste of Byron!

10. Stay at the Arts Factory

Everyone who’s backpacking and who’s heading to Byron has at least heard about The Arts Factory Hostel. It’s a Byron institution! Even if you’re not staying their go check it out, grab a beer at the Buddah Bar and soak up the atmosphere. Check out our hostel review for more info.
