The Relentless Boardmasters Is Underway…

I’ve postponed the Saturday Showcase this week in favour of a quick update to my Festival Guide.

This week the Relentless Boardmasters Festival down in Newquay kicked off after camping tickets sold out at the beginning of the week.

Luckily we’ve scored some press passes, however my weekend was suddenly not so free…luckily I wasn’t short of a few friends willing to take some free tickets off my hands and I’ve sent our roving reporter Holly down to sample the action VIP styley, experience the festival first hand and come back with some tasty photographic treats to accompany her write up!

This week has seen the quick progression of the surfing comp (although a few lay days were had) and certainly yesterday saw Fistral doing what it does best – producing world class waves for the pros to tear up in the newly crowned 6* event. The report looks set for a pretty lush weekend of finals too – fingers crossed the weather holds out so the crowds can enjoy the show from the beach!

The Beach Bar sessions have also been going down a storm – with Boardmasters fave Newton Faulkner playing to a sell out crowd as the sun set and numerous pints of Rattlers were being consumed!

But the real highlight of Friday is the opening of the Watergate Bay site where the next few nights are going to be full of musicaltreats – with the Klaxons headlining last night and Fat Boy Slim taking the honours for the Saturday – something I’m pretty bummed about missing but I’m sure Holly appreciates my generosity!

Friday also saw Radio One broadcast live from the event with the rather beautiful Fearn Cotton braving the Cornish climates to bring the action to the BBC.

If your down in Cornwall for the weekend or simply short of something to do I highly recommend heading down and sampling the atmosphere. Even if you can’t find yourself a ticket to the music side of things the trade village is always open and there’s heaps of entertainment going on from Skate Demos to Beach Clean Ups and even some freebies thrown in for good measure.

…And lets face it a weekend spent on the beautiful beaches of the South West is never a bad way to spend some time!

But don’t worry if you can’t make it down, because I’m sure Holly will do the festival justice and get you stoked to get the weekend booked off for next years event!
