Monthly Travel Summary, Stats and Budget – Jan ’13

It’s a new year, I’m continuing to live the dream and I’m stoked to embark on my second year on continuous travel backpacking around the world! And with that I shall be continuing my monthly travel summary and stats – stripping back each month of my travels and letting you know the good, the bad and the financial!

The aim is to use it as a guideline to plan your own travels, avoid any mistakes I’ve made and give you a nitty gritty down low on the true cost of travel!

Money Breakdown

Morocco – £50 over 31 days = £1.61 per day

Total Spent – £50 over 31 days = £1.61 per day

Cheapest Place – Well this month I’ve been sat in the same spot surf coaching (you can read more about what I’m doing in Morocco here) so it’s been a cheap as month – giving me time to recoup some funds and plan my next few months for 2013!

Most Expensive Place – see above!

Biggest Splurge/Unforeseen Expense – this month my biggest outlay has been the renewal for my camera insurance (which I had forgotten about!) to make sure all my tech kit is covered…incase you’re interested (and I’ve been asked it alot recently) I use Photoguard UK

Highlight – Without a shadow of a doubt watching Anchor Point fire off mid month, it was just about as perfect as it gets and even resulted in one of my pics nabbing MagicSeaweed photo of the day – for any surf photographer that’s a whole heap of stoke!

Lowlight – this months been pretty good all round! I guess the worst part of it is the fact the swell has faded out a bit!

Well I suppose I’ll have to show you the aforementioned shot of Anchor Point!

What’s Next?

The next month is filled with people heading my way to catch up – I’ve got the girl over now for a few weeks, my little brother and his buddy are heading out to share some waves (which we haven’t done together for over a year now) and my best buddy from uni Kyle is joining them.
Then towards the end of the month my buddy Gijs who I worked alongside in Ecuador last year is coming out for a couple month – so ice cold beers and catch ups all round!
