The Drift, perfectly located right in the centre of Hanoi, Vietnam, is one of the most fun, sociable and cleanest hostels we went to in South East Asia (and believe me they are sometimes hard to find!)
The hostel is run by an Aussie, who clearly knows what we traveler’s appreciate: clean dorms, good food, free internet and even a cinema room! The whole atmosphere is buzzing, with colourful walls, music and friendly staff. It is the perfect place to meet fellow travelers, and because most the rooms are dorms (some are mixed, others are single sex) it’s so easy to meet your roommates and take it from there! There are also lockers in the rooms.
There is always something going on, whether it’s a movie night, billiards competition, beer pong or a massive game of ring of fire. Everyone is so friendly and you may even meet people to travel with down south (you can book buses from the hostel)
Price wise it is around $5.50 a night- very reasonable considering the standard of the facilities.
The staff are so helpful and assist you in planning trips. There are a lot of reasonably priced excursions away from Hanoi, such as to the famous Ha Long Bay or the beautiful mountain town of Sa Pa, and because everyone books the same one, you will be with a great group from the hostel.
