HOSTEL REVIEW: Aquarius Backpackers

Aquarius is up there with the best hostels I’ve stayed in whilst in Oz – and its by far the best I’ve lived in since being located in Byron.

Accomodation wise all the rooms are en suite, clean and cosy – the 10 bed dorms even have an upstairs which creates a good homely atmosphere and is great to chillax in.

Outside there’s a huge sun patio where you can relax, socialise and even skate on!

Facilities wise it’s got most things – pool, internet (inc wifi which works in all the rooms), xbox, plus new kitchen, pool table, free bodyboard hire and TV’s. Next door is a nice little cafe which does excellent food and drinks at affordable prices – although you get a free evening meal with your stay anyways!

One of the main pulls for this hostel is the fact it has bar/club downstairs! Which means lots of partying, happy hours, and live entertainment. Noise wise don’t let it put you off – everythings pretty sound proofed and you’ll have no worries sleeping!

Location wise it’s pretty set. 100m walk from main beach and just a 2 min stroll to the town centre and all the other clubs and shops in Byron.

When it comes to price it’s a tad more than the others, although it’s still really competitive. 10 share dorms come in at $30pn, but drop to $28pn for 3 nights or more and drop down to $26 if you book for a week. Add in your free evening meal and that’s more than resonable!

The place oozes a friendly atmosphere and is clean and tidy without having the feel of a bland commercial hotel style of some hostels.

Definately one to check out!
