The height of summer is quickly approaching and the festival season is soon to be in full swing – and as of last night the biggest UK music festival officially sold it’s last tickets, yup Glastonbury is nearly upon us!
The Countdown Begins
A month to the day 180,000 welly clad festival goers will descend on a small Somerset town to occupy a dairy farm for 5 days of music, alternative culture and booze fuelled revelry – happy days indeed!
And BackpackerBanter.com will be amongst the carnage, pop up tents, beer and close friends in tow – including 2 Glasto virgins in the shape of @Kezisms and my little brother, so we can give you a low down on whats happening from all perspectives.
Having attended numerous Glastonbury festivals – both as a paying member of the public and on a VIP Press Pass – it’s the pinnacle of the festival scene and something I look forward to alot. You may have been to festivals of all manner of descriptions but you haven’t truly experienced the culture of festival life until you’ve been to Glasto…it’s THE festival.
Making Up for Lost Time
Having not made the 2010 40th anniversary due to being in Oz (I think that’s a valid reason!) I’m even more stoked for 2011 – my Glasto crew all have tickets and our new members are going to make it even more amusing. The fact 2012 is a lay year for the event also gives it even more energy.
And with literally hundreds of live acts, 30 stages and more fancy dress randomness than you can shake a mud caked stick act it promises not to disappoint. Personally this year the headliners aren’t really my cup of tea but I’m going to take the opportunity to get lost in the madness of Shangri-La and explore the many smaller yet equally impressive areas – including the Rabbit Hole which has always produced some amusing stories for me!
So don’t worry if you don’t have tickets – better luck for 2013 – I shall be tweeting the chaos on @BckPackerBanter and no doubt there will be a full write up for the Festival Guide Feature and some gorgeous pics too.
