Blog4NZ – What The…?!

You may have noticed through our twitter account and the large image on the right of our site that we’ve been heavily promoting “Blog4NZ”. And you may be wondering what it’s all about – so I thought I’d put together a quick post to explain it all to you…

You’d have to be living under a rock not to have heard about the recent earthquakes and subsequent destruction it created in the town of Christchurch on the south island of New Zealand.

The 6.3 magnitude shake happened just 3.1km under the surface right in the heart of Christchurch itself – causing buildings to collapse and claiming the lives of 65 people.

Still Open

But New Zealand is recovering and still open for business!

For a country where 10% of income is generated by tourism dollars the whole event had a crippling affect – especially considering most of the country was only mildly affected and still welcoming visitors.

And thats where a band of bloggers have come into their own. Using the joys of social media and their own personal influence as bloggers they have created “Blog4NZ’ – a 3 day blogging event co-ordinated by the travel blog community and in association with many key names in Kiwi tourism to show the world that NZ is open and has heaps of beautiful places to explore and things to do.

What Can You Do?

It’s easy to get involved – tweet with the hashtag #Blog4NZ and get as many people to head over to the official registration page and sign up their support and wack the widget on their blog or website – and do the same yourself.

Then between March 21st and 23rd post a tasty platter of treats showcasing what you love about NZ – photos from your time their, things you got up too…or simply why you want to visit, basically promote the fact that no one should be put off visiting!

And even if you don’t have a blog you can still contribute – you can submit images or stories direct to the guys at Blog4NZ for them to distribute or you can send them direct to me here at BackPackerBanter.com and I’ll publish them on your behalf – just head on over to the “Contact Us” pages and send us some info on why you think it’s the best thing since sliced bread or send some pics to backpackbanter [at] me [dot] come

But even if you don’t have the time to bosh out some writing or dig through your photos it only takes a couple of seconds to head over to the official Facebook fanpage and hit “Like”!

…and don’t forget to swing back here to for our own contribution to it all.
