This past weekend has been pretty sweet, despite a few issues. In fact said issues kind of lead to the weekend.
Stressed and needing to clear my head I’ve been on a pretty chaotic few days here in the Bay.
Thursday night was the tout meeting at Cocos, despite our poor show this week me and Jim had a pretty epic one for free. Pizza, cocktails and good banter – all on the house :)
Fri was full of drinking carnage with Jim Boy, where the goon power hour set the course for another epic night of partying. After a post shift session we hit the Beachie for some awesome tuneage courtesy of the Taiwana Cartel where we bumped into Taylor.
Which was lucky for me cos Jim did a disappearing act with a lovely lady!
Me and Taylor headed Cocos way via some banter with Tink before getting right on the cocktails again. The group multiplied as Rob, John Silas and a heap of others join us – it was inevitable that the Monkey was on he cards. Happy days!
Table dancing passed the hours by and I woke up in a haze of Byronian morning sun!
Despite working until 11pm Saturday went much the same way – after clocking off my manager rewarded my hard work with a fist full of free drinks vouchers, and after hitting up Harlem and Damo we were bar side and playing catch up. Jack helped me on my way and Jonesy got in tow :)
Detour via the pie shop and another epic night came to a close.
Sunday was sweet as. The boys and I brushed aside the hangovers and headed to little Watego for a spot of fishing. The sun was beaming down and we setup on the rocks. Dickie hooked in first with an average sized flathead, followed by Bens Sea Bream. But it was the ransomer near us that stole the show, landed heaps of fish market quality meals!
Such is life!
Fortunately for us nature put on an epic show. About an hour in Silas caught sight of a whale only 150m off shore. It was quickly joined by the rest of the pod – around 15 strong and we were treated to fins, tails and an awesome show as a couple decided to fully breach. A magical sight, rounded off by heaps of dolphins enjoying a deep orange sunset.
And what kind of manly bonding trip would be complete without some icy cold beers? As it was Dickies leaving party an AQ lock in was in order. The night was full of banter, work gossip, karaoke and many a banana liqueur.
Slipping into bed with a half eaten kebab and work in the morning my weekend had finished.
But everyday’s a Friday in Byron. Backpackings finest quality…
