I was kindly reminded by Kez that today marks one year of probably the most significant part of my trip to Australia – the day I moved into Aquarius Hostel in Byron Bay.
After an uncertain week of job hunting and moving from spot to spot I finally scored a job as a bus tout with AQ – which would become my home for the next 5 months.
Living in the Byron Bubble (theres a whole feature on the slider homepage for it!) was definitely living the dream that I set out to find in Oz.
Epic surf, epic parties and heaps of amazing people – what more could you ask for?!
The only bad thing about discovering the joys of Byron is the fact it’s set the bar for my future travels – and it’s set it pretty high!
That’s the problem with finding your dream spot so early on in your travels – everywhere (no matter how beautiful and fun) will always be compared to it and every other story you have will begin “when I was in Byron…”
I’m keeping my opinions open tho – I’m sure every country has it’s own little Byron – I just need to go find it!
Cheers to the guys at AQ for employing me and a big goon laden toast to everyone I met in the Bay…I’ll be back soon!
