The Ultimate Xmas Gift Guide For Female Travellers
Ladies, I know it sounds weird but this will be your best friend during over night buses/trains where you may have to pee in the woods and would rather not squat down praying nothing bites your bum!
To be honest I even used this on an overnight bus through Central America, there was no way I was going to squat or sit on that toilet!
If you’re not a constant traveler then this is a great home gift to hang on the wall. You can keep track of where you’ve been and where you want to go in the future.
When I had my apartment in San Francisco I had one of these maps and whenever I got the travel blues I would glance up at the map and remind myself that I still have more countries to scratch off!
‘Being a Woman Just Got Easier!’
This little trinket is a thousand times better than using tampons and is easier to carry around than a million bulky monthly supplies! Order a few and keep one in your day bag (for the times you’re out & about and mother natures calls), and another in your wash bag.
Not to gross out all the boys (that are hopefully taking notes on what to buy their carefree girlfriends for traveling) but it’s super easy to clean and reuse!
I bought myself the most useful (best) passport holder – a vintage map on the front with the words “World Traveler” on it.
On the inside I have slots for money, plane tickets, credit cards and a little spot for a photo.
It’s amazing and I love it!
Treat yourself to a cute passport holder that will keep your passport safe and protected!

Travel Experiences Or Travel Vouchers
If they love travel what could be better than buying them some epic travel experiences? If you know what they’re planning to do on their adventures this is a great option and you can book a lot of stuff open dated, so they can fit it in when suit them.
And if you’re not sure what they’d want to do you can always get them a travel gift card or travel voucher – that way they can put it towards anything they want!
Every girl needs a cute (semi useful!) token of love from their sweetie.
These are a few brands I enjoy that sell useful (and beautiful) travel items.
Comuse – World Scarf! Yes, you need this world scarf in your life, its big enough to be used as a lightweight blanket on buses, obviously as a scarf, a wrap for the pool, etc. And every girl needs the world map necklace- it’s brilliant. Use promo code BPB10 for 10% off!
Crumple City – it’s exactly what you think it is… a map you can crumple up in your bag but still fold out with no rips. It’s amazing and waterproof and you need it. You can select different cities to purchase and explore!
Yankee Design – its a head scarf with ear padding so you can rest your head on windows in planes/ cars/ buses, etc. Also folds down over your eyes to block out light – you’ll be wanting one when you’re on a 16 hour bus drive.
LUSH – I was recently introduce to this brand but its wonderful. They have shampoo/body wash bars – perfect products for traveling girls to stay semi cute on the road!
Girls That Scuba – Ladies if you’re into scuba diving the crew at Girls That Scuba have a whole heap of amazing GTS products on offer – from mask straps and iPhone cases (OMG sharks!) to reusable bags!
A quick and easy gift!
Secure all your valuables while staying in hostels or on sleeper trains – it’s a great little stocking stuffer!
My most treasured traveling item is my eye mask.
I’m a napper, I love naps, I nap a lot, I can fall asleep anywhere at any time. It’s a gift.
My eye mask helps block out all the light and obviously a neck pillow is important for an efficient nap. When I left my eye mask on the plane one time I pouted for a whole day, naps just wouldn’t be the same until I got a new one!
Before you think, “A shower bag will take up too much room” let me just tell you, yes, it will take up room.
However! It’s pretty useful having all your important bathroom products with you when you have to walk down three flights of stairs to the common shower room of a hostel.
In Europe I didn’t have one, I saw that my travel buddy did and she was a genius. I would take three different small bags to the bathroom and still forget something.
Bonus points if you get one of those fold out ones that can hang up for easy access!
It’s a must have, Ladies.
Important Shower Bag Items
Pedicure/manicure set – Tweezers, nail posh, nail remover, these are things you’ll want with long term travel. It’s nice to have a girl day while traveling!
Dry Shampoo – Another best friend, dry shampoo will save your life in those time you’ve been wearing the same outfit for two days straight while being stuck on a sweaty chicken bus!
Coconut oil – You can use coconut oil for anything: Sunburns, Mosquito bites, Moisturizer, Hair Oil, Fragrance…it’s like natures Swiss Army Knife!
Face Moisturiser – if you spend a lot of time in the sun and sometimes forget to put sunscreen on you’ll want this. To look youthful and fresh it’s good to take some time before bed and slap on some face juice.
Sunscreen – Be smart, just wear it – you’ll thank yourself 20 years from now!
GoPro – Just buy it! I know it’s pricey but if you want amazing photos for Facebook and Instagram just invest. If you’re big on social media this camera will give you the best action shots, underwater photos, basically anything. If you’re not sure which one to buy check out these hands on review of the GoPro Hero 6 and GoPro Hero 5
Knekt Dome – Once again, this is a pricey present. However, if you’re a photographer, blogger, or simply want to best photos you can get this buy this. Its the dome that splits underwater photos in half perfectly. Check out their Instagram to get inspired! (@knektusa)
Power Banks– For those long journey’s you’ll want an extra battery charger to charge phones & cameras and a solid power bank is a great investment.
Useful for games, movies, shows, playing around on the internet, music and reading! Just don’t let it get stolen at a bus stop in the middle of Costa Rica like what happened to me, miss you sweet sweet iPad.
These are my two favorite travel bags, I took the Chrome backpack through Europe and the Timbuk2 through Central America. They come in different sizes, colors, from backpacks to purses.
Chrome – is a waterproof bag that has mainly one big section on the inside. You can buy the space dividers separately, they’re great for hiking, biking, or urban use. The smaller sizes make excellent day packs and keep things dry whilst island hopping or on the beach.
Timbuk2 – Perfect for laptops/ cameras/ electronics and has many compartments to store items.
Osprey – If you want a durable backpacking bag I highly suggest Osprey. They have a great warranty and are long lasting, comfortable and affordable – check out this hands on review of the Osprey Farpoint.
Yes, you bet your bottom I bring pepper spray and knifes everywhere I go!
I’m not taking chances, I’ll take a person down if they try to attack me!
This is perfect for solo female travelers, it’s also a wonderful stocking stuffer! Make sure your loved one is safe while traveling, its also totally legal to have in your checked bag (not carry on… that would be bad!)
…luckily I’ve not had to use them yet!
It’s great to have as a scarf, blanket, head wrap, shower towel, bikini wrap. It’s universal and mine has been all over the world with me. Another treasured item! They come in an assortment of colors and size too so there’s something for everyone.
Every traveller needs somewhere to sleep so why not buy some accommodation?! This is great if you know where they’re heading or they have a birthday/special occasion on the road. Whether it’s a week in a hostel or a few nights of luxury somewhere a bit more flash every traveller will be stoked with this one!
Yes, I do have a small hair dryer that comes along with me!
I usually don’t use it too much but occasionally I like to look semi adorable for my man and will get all dolled up (it’s mostly for myself but he likes to think it’s for him!)
If you have out of control crazy curly hair like I do then straightening it might keep you sane. I ditched mine a long time ago because I am now one with my curls, but if you’re traveling through humid countries then invest in one!
Ok so admittedly this is the least romantic gift on the list, however it’s probably the most practical! I recommend everyone has travel insurance – it might be the biggest waste of money on your adventures, but that’s a good things as it means you come home in one piece!
If you do find yourself in trouble though you’ll be glad you have it so it’s a pretty thoughtful gift for any traveller. Check out our travel insurance page for a quick quote!
Well hopefully that list has given you heaps of inspiration for what to buy the travelling females in your life so good luck with your xmas shopping!
Any other travel gift ideas you’d add to the list?
