Sunset over the ocean are always the best sunset and no matter where I am backpacking in the world I never get bored of them. Whether it’s at the lighthouse in Byron Bay in Australia, with a beer on the beach in Montanita in Ecuador, or kicking back on the sand dunes of North Devon I can always make time for them.
So having just landed in the Algarve, Portugal and being based down by the beach in Sagres it was only a matter of time before I headed down to see of the day by the ocean with a sunset.
Last night I did just that – which was made even more special by discovering that I was actually watching it from the most South Westerly tip of Europe – the next stop in one direction Morocco and in the other, America.
…and luckily Portugal didn’t disappoint either! Despite the wind it was a great way to finish off a day surf coaching on the beach and enjoying the sunshine, and my fellow surf camp worker (pictured above) was certainly feeling the stoke!
Where’s your favourite spot in the world to watch the sunset?
