Tattoo Time – My First Backpacking Tattoo
So after the incident involving my !face and my surfboard! I decided that the shipwreck at Byron needed to be remembered.
I’ve also been toying with ideas for an Australia related tattoo for a while…so incorporating the two seemed like a good plan.
I had a photo I shot of The Wreck that I drew out and stylised a bit, with some artistic input from Tattoo Tom.
Then after some google searching I stumbled upon some awesome inspiration an promptly got to work making it my own. Things were removed, things added, colour and shading made an appearance and Tom tidied everything up into an awesome looking design which comprises of a barrelling wave, The Wreck, the Southern Cross and the slogan “Living the Dream”.
Now I knew getting new ink would keep me out of the surf for a while so I choose yesterday as the date – a perfect break in the swell, enough time to heal for my brothers arrival and best of all Kerri’s birthday – what more could she want than to see me in pain?!hahaha!
So after a quick morning surf with the boys (and also a final dip in the water for Frank, who left that evening – safe travels dude) I headed over to the studio to get my new ink.
Kez was in tow to enjoy my pain and snap some shots of Tom at work on my leg.
About an hour and a half later my new ink was done, and I’m uber stoked with it. It’s currently healing up nicely and looks pretty dam pimping – Toms finishing off the white shading once its healed so it’ll be highlighted really well.
A permanent reminder of my awesome Australia adventure and my time in Byron Bay.
