Another Saturday afternoon in Byron Bay – the sun was shinning, the winds were light and I was recovering from a fun Friday night of dancing and excess.
The surf reports looked less than ideal, the cam looked flat at the Pass.
It didn’t look promising.
Actually it looked less than promising!
Still a quick text to my surf buddy Crawf and we took our chances, loaded the car and headed just out of town to a spot called Belongil, a personal favourite of ours at the moment.
Even as we slid into our wetsuits in the slightly chilly Australian winter air we were expecting to nothing more than a way to get wet and wash away the remainder of our hangovers.
But as we hit the top of the sand dunes we were greeted by offshore, clean peeling waves and only a handful of in the know (or lucky!) locals trading rides, smiles and shakkas.
Over the next few hours we scored heaps of fun waves in the setting Australian sunshine – it seems fortune favours those with blind faith in the ocean!
Luck was even more on our side as I’d loaded up my TomTom Bandit Action Camera for it’s maiden voyage into the waves – I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to test it out in the surf and capture another epic day of surfing and beach vibes.
So sit back and enjoy my first ever surf edit, set to awesome tunes courtesy of the ever talented Christine Olive – who I recently met whilst she was busking in the Bay ahead of her upcoming music tour of California and Hawaii!
