It wasn’t just the amazing surf in Byron Bay which made me fall in love with this little spot on Australia’s East Coast backpacker trail – the town itself is just heaps of fun, sun and all round good vibes.
It’s hippy roots are still on show and thriving despite the boom in tourism there – but Byron still very much has it’s soul and you only need to take a barefoot wander through town, past all the buskers, organic food shops and dreadlocked locals to realise that.
One of the beauties of Byron is the art scene too – not just music – but the street art that fills the gaps, that take the mundane electric boxes and turn them into a splash of colour, a gentle reminder to enjoy and not destroy and basically epitomise the joys of life in the Bay.
And although the street art scene here isn’t as famous and prominent of say Melbourne’s suburbs Byron still has it’s fair share of beautiful pieces – so I walked around and captured some of my favourites…so here’s a quick exploration through the street art of Byron Bay
Byron Bay definitely seem to have its own style of street art going on here. Very cool.
I love the fact they take mundane, boring objects and have splashed colour all over them – sums up the vibe there I think!
I love finding street art in new places! :) Thanks for inspiring us. I would love to explore Byron Bay one day since I’m a big fan of street arts and beaches. The places are well cleaned and maintained, people will extremely enjoy the good vibes in this town.
Hey Susan, I totally recommend a visit to Byron Bay – it’s a great place to hang out :) there’s such a great art scene there too, I’m sure you’d love it!
