backpacker banter east coast tour 2017 sydney cairns byron bay

Want To Join Me On The East Coast Of Australia?

Join me and the Loka team for an epic adventure from Sydney to Cairns on my East Coast Australia Reader Tour in 2017!

The East Coast of Australia is one of my favourite places to travel and I’ve spent a good chunk of time in Australia over the years experiencing some of the awesome things this country has to offer – in fact Byron Bay is my current base!

So I’m super stoked to announce that I’ve chosen Australia as the destination for my first ever reader tour!

Yup – you now have the opportunity to join me for an epic East Coast Australia Adventure between Sydney and Cairns, which is packed for of sun, sea, surf and heaps of travel chaos!

Introducing Loka Travel

I’ve teamed up with the awesome crew of Loka Travel who I’ve worked with over the last few months to put together an itinerary showcasing the best of what the East Coast has to offer and my favourite places to explore.

They usually operate and awesome hop on, hop off network up the coast but I’ve hijacked one of their buses and some of their crew for this unique and epic 21 day adventure – so not only will you get me showing you around, we’ll also have one of the super awesome Loka Driver Guides with us too.

Where Will We Be Going?

My East Coast Australia Tour ticks off all my favourite places between Sydney and Cairns plus some incredible extra stops to get you off the beaten path;

  • Sydney
  • Barrington Tops
  • Spot X Surf Camp
  • River Retreat
  • Byron Bay
  • Noosa
  • Fraser Island
  • Emu Park
  • Airlie Beach
  • Magnetic Island
  • Indigenous Camp
  • Cairns
  • The Great Barrier Reef

Although this is set up as a tour style format if you fall in love with any of the destinations you visit you’re free to hop off and stay as long as you like – your travel pass will still be valid (and all your trips and accommodation will be open dated) so you have up to 12 months to complete the route.

…or you could just kick back with me and your new travel buddies and carry on up the coast – the choice is yours!

What Will We Be Doing?

You guys know I love a good bit of adventure so I’ve packed this trip with some incredible bucket list items – including surfing in Byron Bay, a Fraser Island 4×4 tour, sailing on the Whitsundays and visiting the Great Barrier Reef.

Here’s the full list of what’s included in the activity package;

  • Surf Lesson at Spot X Surf Camp
  • Dolphin Kayaking in Byron Bay
  • Surf Lesson in Byron Bay
  • 2 day, 1 night Fraser Island Tour
  • 2 day, 2 night Whitsundays Sailing Adventure
  • Great Barrier Reef Day Trip

There are also some upgrades and additional activities we can fit in if you’re game or have the budget;

  • Skydiving (Byron Bay or Mission Beach)
  • Introductory/Certified scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef
  • Turtle snorkelling or intro scuba dive (Byron Bay)
  • Nimbin

And of course we’ll be doing heaps of other cool stuff along the way, like sunset at Byron Bay lighthouse (the most Easterly Point of Australia), wandering through Noosa National Park looking for wild koalas and enjoying a few cold beers on the beach!

The Awesome Backpacker Banter Extras!

As if chilling out in Australia with my curly hair isn’t enough I’ve put together some exclusive Backpacker Banter inclusions for the trip too!

First off is the fact I’ll be filming the whole thing – which means after your trip you’ll get an epic video of the whole thing to keep, which will include all your new travel buddies and some awesome footage captured along the way. I’ll be bringing along my drone and GoPro gear too so get ready for some epic aerial and underwater selfies!

And along with the video I’ll be shooting heaps of pictures too – so you’ll get those as well!

I know a lot of you are interested in how I travel and work so much so I’ll also be doing a chat on travel blogging, filled with tips on how to start your own and the different ways you can make money on the road.

Afterwards we’ll chill with some beers and have a Q&A on anything you want to ask me about life on the road, blogging and whatever other things you might want some answers on!

As well as that I’m also offering a 1 hour pre trip Skype session for everyone on the trip – where we can chat through everything from what to pack to what you’ll be doing pre and post trip, with advice on where to book flights, other things to do, saving etc.

I’ll also be putting together some exclusive travel deals for you too – so if you’re heading to New Zealand, Fiji or South East Asia before or after the trip I’ll make sure you can save some cash! If you’re spending some more time in Australia afterwards I’ll also make sure to hook you up!
